Return to 2007 - Sort of
Tonight is going to be a blast. We're back at Marly's for the first time in a few years. For about 3 years we played every Wednesday night when we weren't on the road. It was our woodshed for new music. The source of 80% of the live music for our podcasts. This was was the era of The Station post-Playground when the lineup was Dave and I along with Josh and Kevin. It was around this time that Warren Taylor upgraded the PA and put in a system of LED light (kind of new at the time). Which was great because we weren't performing with our old lighting rig any more but we hadn't invested in our existing rig just yet. Mike Guinan would usually be running the house lights. Two Wednesdays in November of 2008 we recorded the tracks that would be used on 2009's award winning double live album "Speed of Sound."
Tonight, as we're prepping to return to the studio at the end of the month for our first full length album since 2005, with the 2014 lineup of Dave and I, Chris, Jeff, and Howard, we're going to return to one of the most familiar stage and rooms that I know of (crammed as we may be), and we're gonna blow the roof off the place. Guinan will be running the house lights and the grooves we lay down will be infectious. I can't wait to bring the band of 2014 to the stomping grounds of 2006–2010. We'll hit the stage just after 10pm for two sets tonight. I hope you'll join is if you're in town. —Carter
